Portraits of a Young Lady

A couple of weeks ago I had the great opportunity of photographing a beautiful young lady.  And it was a fantastic opportunity for me because it allowed me to create both artistic portraits with heart and soul as well as fun, lively portraits with laughter and brightness.  This is everything I can hope for in an ideal session for myself.

During our consultation I showed the clients my work and asked them what appealed to them most.  To my surprise and delight the dark, highly stylised portraits were on the cards.  But as this young lady was just 11 I saw an opportunity to provide her with an exciting experience as well.  So I suggested she choose a colour for the background and to bring along some of her favourite fun clothes and hats and she can be a model for the afternoon.

It was a success.  I got two images I’m absolutely in love with to add to my ever increasing collection of fine art imagery, both of which being images chosen by her parents as well.  My eBay find of the chest of drawers is proving to be very useful and fits so well into my vision for this style of portraiture.  I already have some new ideas for it, along with a chair I recently purchased and a few props I’ve arranged to borrow from a local supplier (to be revealed only on completion).

Later in that same session I produced a series of images equally as appealing but in a completely different way.  This beautiful young lady was so at ease in front of the camera her posing just came naturally.  I offered little direction because she seemed to know what to do all on her own.  And once the jumping started the smiles were free flowing.  Perfect!
