I love all things Vintage. I’m not sure where this comes from, whether it’s the memories much of it evokes or just the sheer beauty of it all. I always find myself drawn to the old and often worn pieces. And don’t get me started on wood. Wooden boxes, crates, trunks, and drawers all catch my eye. This is closely followed by leather satchels and then china teacups and saucers. I love it all.<\/p>\n

So when my friend Kirsty mentioned that she needed a hand with the fair she had organised it was a no brainer. A chance to spend the day with my good friend and be able to shop amongst so much loveliness was an excellent way to spend a Sunday. It was even worth foregoing my Sunday lie in and I don’t give those up for just anything.<\/p>\n

<\/i>While I was there I thought I’d also do what I do best, take photos. I shared what I could while I had the time on the day to entice people to come along. But I also thought I’d come back home and take a little more time preparing and sorting the photos from the day to include in both a blog post and an album on my Facebook page. Anyone there on the day is welcome to have any of these photos for their own uses so feel free to tag and share away.<\/p>\n

<\/i>Something I found really quite interesting was this young boy. I saw him engaging with the items on a stall and wondered what he was finding amusing. When I saw him leaving I asked if he’d enjoyed himself, assuming he’d been dragged along somewhat unwillingly. He surprised me with his response. He loved it. So I asked what about it he enjoyed. He loves the history that goes with these vintage pieces and he bought several vinyl records to play on his record player. How nice to see that things like this can still matter to the next generation.<\/p>\n

As always the event was very well attended and feedback was all positive from what I heard while working on the door. Its a bit of a shame its only held once a year. I’ll let you in on a little secret though, I’ve been doing a little encouraging with the organisers to see if they’d add a second event. Too many of such an event would make it less special, of course, but waiting a full year for the next one just seems like such a long time.<\/p>\n
